This puppy was bringing dog treats to Grace’s birthday party Saturday with this puppy paws birthday cake made of Chocolate cake and chocolate frosting. And yes, the doggie treats are eatable, they are made of sugar cookies.

Tradition of placing candles on Birthday cake is attributed to early Greeks, who used place lit candles on cakes to make them glow like the moon. Greeks used to take the cake to the temple of Artemis-the Goddess of Moon. Some scholars say that candles were placed on the cake because people believe that the smoke of the candle carried their wishes and prayers to Gods who lived in the skies. Others believe that the custom originated in Germany where people used to place a large candle in the centre of the cake to symbolize ‘the light of life’.
In present times too, people place candles on Birthday cakes and a silent wish is made before blowing out the candle. It is believed that blowing out all candles in one breath means the wish will come true and the person with enjoy good luck in the coming year. Some also smear out the name of the person before slicing of the cake to bring good luck.

It’s the world that is wrong not me. I was delivering Kris’s Birthday cake and even after living on here for over 20 years, I forgot that in the spring these roads are full of pot holes and I didn’t leave enough time. The pot holes, I can deal with, it’s the wash boards that drive me nuts.
Kris is a flower garden person, they wanted something with flowers and spring like and they wanted something different. This one is different, it even has some real gold on the fence and flowers.

DC8 in Process

Have a customer who has asked for this DC8 as a sculptured cake for her hubby’s birthday. It is now a work in process. Updates all this week, showing you pictures of its’ process. Today we are cutting the template, the board the plane itself will set on, the board the plane will be attached to and place all the posts etc. This is not easy. Hubby helps with the construction and trying to explain to him what is in my brain is hard. Wish him luck.

Step #1 Researching the web for images and getting measurements.
Step #2 Begging Hubby to help design cake board and structure.
Step #3 Figuring it all out.
Step #4 Cutting and putting sturcture together.
