Remember to book your honeymoon in your maiden name.

honeymonAirlines require that the name on your photo ID and/or passport matches the name on your ticket (No special consideration for newlyweds), and you can’t change your IDs until after wedding.

Once you have your marriage certificate in Hand…

notify ever institution that has your name on file.  The most important include the Social Security office, your state’s department of motor vehicles, the IRS (YUK). and your employer.

You should write a list of everywhere you need to change your name from your bank to FB and the website where you can do it.  If there is no web site to do it at, get the paperwork, have it filled out, signed, addressed, stamped and ready to go.

Everthing you can do ahead of time saves lots of time after the wedding.

Changing your name?

Planning to do the paperwork yourself?  Just down load the forms at www.formsguru.com or order a kit ($20) from www.NameThatBride.com.  Or skip the hassle by hiring a firm to most of the work for you, like www.MissNowMrs.com (from$20).

This is something you many want to do prior to the wedding so most of it is done when you get home from your honeymoon.
